Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 2026
1. Overview
Kova takes your privacy seriously. We collect minimal data, and your recordings never leave your device unless you explicitly choose to share them.
2. What We Collect
- Account info: Email and name (for account creation)
- Device info: macOS version, Kova version, screen resolution (for compatibility and debugging)
- Usage analytics: Feature usage frequency, crash reports (anonymized, via Plausible — no cookies)
- Payment info: Handled entirely by Paddle. Kova never sees or stores credit card details.
3. What We Do NOT Collect
- Recording content (video, audio, screenshots) — stays local on your device
- Keystrokes or screen content outside of active recordings
- Browsing history, clipboard data, or contacts
- Location data
4. Cloud Sharing
When you share a recording via link, the video file is uploaded to encrypted AWS S3 storage. The link is unique and unguessable. You can delete shared links at any time.
5. Third-Party Services
- Paddle (payments) — handles all billing securely
- AWS S3 (cloud sharing) — encrypted at rest and in transit
- Plausible (analytics) — privacy-first, no cookies, GDPR compliant
We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any ad trackers.
6. Cookies
Kova's website uses only essential cookies (authentication, preferences). No third-party tracking cookies. No cookie banner needed.
7. Data Retention
Account data is retained while your account is active. Data is deleted within 30 days of an account deletion request. Shared links expire after 30 days by default (configurable).
8. Your Rights
You have the right to access, correct, and delete your personal data. Contact us at [email protected]. We comply with GDPR and CCPA requirements.
9. Children
Kova is not intended for use by children under 13 years of age.
10. Changes
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Updates will be communicated via email to account holders.
